As we age our eyelashes and eyebrows thin, lose their color, and become less prominent. Latisse® treats eyelashes and eyebrows by increasing their growth, including length, thickness, and darkness.
This prescription enhancement serum can be applied quickly and easily in the comfort of your own home. During a free consultation at Bloor Village Cosmetic Medicine clinic, Dr. Alves will help determine whether Latisse® is right for you and answer any questions you might have.
Common Questions about Latisse®
How does it work?
Latisse® works by stimulating the hair follicles at the eyebrows and eyelashes to grow thicker, fuller, and longer. It is applied once per day similar to eyeliner or a color pencil for the eyebrows. That’s it!
How long does Latisse® treatment take?
The office consultation by Dr. Alves will determine whether Latisse® is right for you. Treatments are performed by the patient daily in the comfort of their own home by applying the medication to the upper eyelid and eyebrows. Latisse® is applied once daily to the upper lids or brows with a supplied applicator brush. It takes no longer than several seconds to apply, and a few minutes to dry.
Will I notice the difference right away?
Latisse® solution works gradually over several weeks. You may start seeing longer lashes and brows after 4 weeks. Maximum results are seen after 16 weeks of daily use*(see disclaimer).
How long do the results last?
Your eyelashes and eyebrows will continue to grow fuller and thicker as long as you are using Latisse®. Once you discontinue treatments your eyelashes will return to their pre-treated state over several weeks to months*(see disclaimer).
Once your lashes have become fuller, longer, and darker, you may not need to use Latisse® every month, and may be able to adjust the number of treatments. Dr. Alves will provide appropriate follow-up and treatment recommendations after your initial treatments.
How soon can I return to normal activities?
There are no restrictions to your daily activities when using Latisse®. It is recommended that all patients apply the product to their eyebrows and eyelashes during a night when they will not be exercising or going out to make sure they do not have a skin reaction.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Areas of skin that are treated with Latisse® will grow thicker, fuller hair. There is the risk of increased skin pigmentation. In trials patients have also experienced increased iris pigmentation. It is important to discuss any pre-existing eye diseases with Dr. Alves during consultation.
